Happy Australia Day everyone!
Thanks to Cricket Victoria who organise Junior T20 cricket, I was invited to the Stars versus Scorchers match today at the MCG. We were taken out onto the ground and was given a Stars hat. My player Mohammad Hafeez didn't know he was supposed to sign the hat so the guys from Cricket Victoria took my hat down to the bench and got Viv Richards, Rob Quiney and the water boy Andy Lee to all sign it. My parents were very excited because they are BIG fans of Viv Richards. AND Adam Gilchrist gave me an autograph - he was really nice.

I got to stand out on the MCG and do some warm ups and exercises. Hopefully next time I am out there I will be playing for a team! (Either Melbourne Stars, Carlton Blues or Australia). Thanks for a great day Cricket Victoria!

Thanks Uncle Mike for the cool runners!

The Stars finished the season unbeaten going into the finals. Hodge batted well making 61. There weren't many sixes unfortunately because I was ready in the crowd to catch one! We play the Hurricanes this week in the semi-finals, and because we finished top of the ladder we get a home final at the MCG. The other semi-final is Perth Scorchers versus Sydney Sixes at the SCG.

In the Australian Open Li Na won the Women's Championship, and in a big upset Wawrinka won the Men's Championship. Well done to both of you!

Stars Versus Hurricanes! After fighting the traffic on Punt Rd for an hour and forty-five minutes we missed the first 10 overs. By the time we arrived Hurricanes had lost a few wickets. Stars took the first wicket on the very first ball of the match - so it was a pretty good start for us. Hurricanes made 131 over 20 overs, losing 9 wickets. the Stars needed 132 to win. The Stars won in their 20th over, losing 5 wickets along the way. We were very happy, but we thought the Stars should have made the runs a bit quicker, and hit a few more sixes.

The Australian Open has had a big upset with Djokovic being knocked out by the Swiss Wawrinka. Nadal and Federer play in one semi-final. That will be an interesting and exhilarating match! The other semi-final will be between Berdych and Wawrinka tonight. Good luck all of you!

Hi there sports fans! Australia won the ODI yesterday against England easily, with 60 balls to spare. D. Warner and S.Marsh both got 71 runs each, Marsh was n.o. Warner had a direct hit at the stumps from outside the circle, running out I.Bell. During the Power play Hadden realised there were five players outside the circle. This is against the fielding rules because the wrong number of fielders were outside the circle. Australia has now won the series, and have all eight matches against England during the summer. With two ODI's to go, they are looking for 10/10.

CRICKET TIPS OF THE DAY:
We didn't watch any cricket today, but did play some at a cricket holiday camp and some of the things we learnt were:
When fielding, to throw the ball straight and far, hold the ball with your 2 fingers like bunny ears, across the seam.
When bowling, if you want to bowl straight (no swing) hold your bunny ear fingers across the seam.

Tomorrow night 7.40pm Melbourne Stars are playing Hobart Hurricanes at the MCG - and we will be there!!!!!!!! Hopefully taking a catch!

The Australian Open is in its second week. Thank goodness it is not as hot as last week. Serena Williams was surprisingly knocked out of the tournament yesterday. Maria Sharapova was also eliminated today. Ferrer and Djokovic made it through today. Right now Federer and Tsonga are playing the first set. This should be a great match. Although I don't think I'll be allowed to stay up and watch it!

Thanks for reading, can't wait to report on the Stars match!

Welcome to our new sports blog. We want to talk about sport for sports' mad kids like us- the latest updates, the news, what's on and who's doing what.

Let's start with cricket.....what a summer of cricket. Who could guess the Aussies would be doing so well. The most exciting  ODI match I've ever seen was Friday night when Faulkner saved the day. Faulkner hit the ball beautifully and didn't take his eyes off the prize. He made 69 runs n.o. and had N. Coulter-Nile running on the field bare foot. England were a bit unlucky, I feel a bit bad for A.Cook. Well done Australia.

Now to the 20/20...first I have to disclose that I am a Melbourne Stars fan...so you may see a bit of bias in my writing towards the Stars. Last night Melbourne Renegades played Sydney Sixes. It was very close but in the end the Sixes beat the Renegades by 2 runs. The Renegades put on a good show hitting a 6 off the last ball. Renegades were 5/149 off 20 overs, and the Sixes were 6/151 off 20 overs. There was a new player Bravo for the Renegades. He is from the West Indies and he made 38 runs. He hit some great sixes. One of the spectators dived for a catch and fell over - and he didn't get the catch!

In the other 20/20 Adelaide Strikers played Brisbane Heat, the Heat won by 32 runs. The Strikers were all out for a disappointing 97 in the nineteenth over. Heat were 7/129 from 20 overs.

Watching the ODI today - so far we are 32 overs in and England are 4/133.

Upcoming.....21st January the Melbourne Stars are playing Hobart Hurricanes - go STARS!!

Thanks for reading!!!
